“All the Property that is necessary to a Man, for the Conservation of the Individual and the Propagation of the Species, is his natural Right, which none can justly deprive him of: But all Property superfluous to such purposes is the Property of the Public, who, by their Laws, have created it, and who may therefore by other Laws dispose of it, whenever the Welfare of the Public shall demand such Disposition. He that does not like civil Society on these Terms, let him retire and live among Savages. He can have no right to the benefits of Society, who will not pay his Club towards the Support of it.”

The math equation to define our ‘American Exceptionalism’ has come to look something like this: Democracy = Free Enterprise = Capitalism = FREEDOM!!!  (USA! USA!…)
In fact, capitalism came later, well after the agrarian-centered birth of the nation.  Currently, our society is creating wealth at an unprecedented rate through automation and innovation, but the benefits thereof are going in ungodly measure to the ‘one percenters’.  Makes sense, seeing as to how they’ve taken control of our electoral process and news media.  However, unfettered free enterprise and the rise of corporations were widely foreseen as threats to the very survival of liberty and democracy.  Thus, the above quote from none other than founding dude Ben Franklin.
